This policy describes, in plain language, what data this website actually collects and how it is used.
The Hemp Museum ("we," "us," "our") operates this website. For any privacy question or request, contact us atmuseumhemp01@gmail.com.
We've tried to only list what this site genuinely does today — not a generic template of everything a website could theoretically do.
When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent to us via Netlify Forms (our hosting provider's form-handling service) and delivered to our email. We use this only to respond to you.
The rotating globe on our homepage requests an approximate location (city/country level) from a third-party service, ipapi.co, based on your IP address. This happens automatically when the page loads, is used only to greet you and place a marker on the globe, and is never stored by us — it's not saved to any database, file, or analytics tool on our end. While you are on the site, this approximate location is also shared in real time as an anonymous dot on the globe, so that visitors can see who else is currently exploring the museum. This happens live only while you are connected: no name or identifying detail is attached, and the moment you close the page your dot disappears for everyone. Nothing about it is recorded or kept.
If you complete our membership checkout flow, we store your membership tier in your browser's local storage (a small file kept on your own device, not on our servers) so the site can show or hide member content. This is currently a demonstration mechanism, not a secure account system — see ourTerms of Servicefor more on the current state of membership.
We are in the process of connecting a payment processor (AllPay) for memberships and donations. Once live, payment details will be handled directly by that processor under its own privacy policy — we do not see or store your card details ourselves.
Some pages embed YouTube videos. When you play one, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies and collect data according to its own privacy policy, independent of us.
As of this writing, we have not installed a visitor analytics tool (such as Google Analytics). If we add one in the future, we will update this policy first.
The WhatsApp button on this site opens a chat with our number in your own WhatsApp app. Messages you send us that way are subject to WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not this one.
We don't sell your personal data. We don't share contact form submissions with sponsors or partners. Our partnership and advertising placements (seePartner With Us) never involve access to visitor data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you (which, per section 2, is mainly limited to whatever you send us via the contact form). Emailmuseumhemp01@gmail.comto make a request.
As the site adds real functionality (payments going live, analytics, accounts), we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
